Making Pretzels

On Friday, we made pretzels in kindergarten. We learned that the pretzel shape was invented by a monk during Lent in the early 600's. He made the pretzel shape out of scraps of bread dough in order to teach the children how to fold their arms across their chest during prayer. Isn't that interesting?

The children rolled out their dough, so they could make the pretzel shape.

Spinning the dough helped to make it a thinner piece, which was easier to shape into a pretzel.

Here are the pretzels, ready to go into the oven.

Thank you, Jingke, for all of your hard work!
One little friend even made the pretzel shape out of play dough!
