We had a special visitor in Kindergarten today. Mrs. Galambos's brother is a firefighter and he came in to talk to us about fire safety. The children asked lots of great questions and they loved checking out all of his cool gear!

Firefighter Devin asked all of us to check our homes to make sure that we had smoke detectors on all floors. If you are missing a smoke detector, you can contact the City of Calgary Home Safety Program for help. Here is a link to their website:

Another thing Firefighter Devin asked us to do was to talk to our families about creating a home escape plan. The link above also has great information about creating your own home escape plan with your family. Just like we practice fire drills at school so that we know what to do in the case of emergency, we should also practice our home escape plans.

Puzzles and Dominoes are so much fun!

Today the children worked collaboratively on lots of different puzzles. They even learned how to play dominoes!

We are learning about patterns

We started our new Math unit on patterns today. The children are learning that all patterns repeat. We made some two-part patterns today!

"I am unique" In-class field trip

Yesterday, the kindergartens had a wonderful morning, participating in an in-class field trip called, "I am unique." Conductor Kimberly from TPET took us on an imaginary train ride to learn about how each one of us is special in our own way. Thank you to our three fabulous parent volunteers for making sure the morning went so smoothly.

Listening skills

Yesterday in Kindergarten, we read a book called Listen, Buddy! The main character is a bunny rabbit named Buddy and he doesn't listen very well. By the end of the book, he learns that it is important to listen. The children sang the listening song (to the tune of Frere Jacques):
Eyes are watching,
Ears are listening,
Lips are closed.
Hands are still.
Feet are very quiet.
You should really try it!
Listening well,
Listening well.

Everyone made bunny ears to show that we are good listeners. Aren't they cute?
