Halloween play time

Yesterday, our Kindergartens were invited to dress like their favourite book character or to wear black and orange. They all looked so great! Check out some of the fun we had.

Check out our little crafters.

We worked on our fine motor skills using chopsticks to pick up objects.

Check out the awesome city!

They are so creative!

We enjoyed a popcorn snack while we watched Spookley the Square Pumpkin come to life on screen. We read the book last week and loved it.

Fun with Pumpkins!

Yesterday in Kindergarten, we got our hands into some pumpkins. It was really slimy and squishy! With the help of some grade five buddies, we scooped out the insides and separated the seeds. Next, the kindergartens suggested ideas for the pumpkin's face and the grade five students carved the wonderful jack-o-lantern faces. I think they turned out so well!

After school, I brought home the pumpkin seeds, washed them, then put olive oil, salt and garlic powder on them and roasted them in the oven at 350 degrees F for about 40 minutes (until they were dry and slightly toasted). We are going to eat them today!

Did you know that pumpkin seeds are FULL of valuable nutrients? They are very high in fibre and magnesium and they're tasty, too!

Mat Man!

We have been singing the "Mat Man" song all week long. It helps us build body awareness, which in turn helps us when we are drawing people.

Here is a link to the song on youtube:

We built Mat Man on the carpet and added hair, a watch and keys.

It's Mat Man Mrs. Mac!

We celebrate Autumn colours

This week we painted some gorgeous autumn trees, using a lego piece to stamp the paint!

The children looked at lots of pictures of fall trees for inspiration.

We love our beautiful Maple leaf!

It's a lovely Autumn forest!

We started "Math Zones" yesterday!

Yesterday we started working in our "Math Zones."  These are daily work stations that we rotate through in order to learn the math concept on which we are working. In this case, we are working on counting. Check out the cool activities we are doing!
